Two Sisters Cafe
MilwaukieA Mexican-inspired family play cafe on SE McLoughlin, built around a real kids' play room — slide, ball pit, climbing structure, play kitchen — that parents can watch through pass-through windows while they eat. It's a pay-to-play spot first and a breakfast-and-lunch counter second, with a flavored-latte program leaning on house-made syrups (think pistachio horchata, Mexican mocha), not a third-wave espresso bar. Come for a calm morning out with small kids, not for a single-origin pour-over.
The order
The Pistachio Horchata Latte — rice, cinnamon, and pistachio cold foam — is the signature; the Mexican Mocha (cocoa with cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, nutmeg) is the other one to get. Pair it with the sourdough conchitas, or a chorizo breakfast burrito if you're making a meal of it.
Know before you go
- Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Open Wed–Fri 8am–2pm and Sat–Sun 8am–3pm — a daytime, mostly-weekend spot.
- The play room is pay-to-play: $4.75 per child, or $8.50 for two. High chairs, a kids' menu, a changing table, and free WiFi make it genuinely set up for parents.
- No parking lot of its own — street parking right on the McLoughlin corridor, and reviewers say it gets tight at peak.
- Mobile and pickup ordering through the Square site and the Joe Coffee app if you're grabbing and going.
- Strong vegetarian and vegan options across a big breakfast-and-lunch menu, including vegan pistachio cookies.
